Photo Independent was held April 25 - 27 in Los Angeles at Raleigh Studios. We'll be talking about it and showing some pictures in a day or so.

Paris Photo Los Angeles, is an important art fair that specializes in artworks created in the photographic medium. It takes place at Paramount Pictures Studios April 25th -27th. This should be a enjoyable fair because of the location. It's an ideal setting to explore how artists have been and are using photography and moving image in their work in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Eighty-one, leading international galleries will present historical and contemporary works by renowned and emerging artists in the legendary Paramount Pictures’ soundstages. The New York Street backlot, a replica of New York City’s streets, will be dedicated to the presentation solo shows, special exhibitions, and bookseller projects, each exhibiting within an exclusive movie set. Also, BMW, will be showing off its David Hockney art car.

The AIPAD Photography Show New YorkApril 9 - 13, 2014

New York's annual and most important photography art fair opens this week. More than 80 photography galleries and dealers from world will be showing contemporary and vintage photographs at The AIPAD Photography Show. It runs April 10-13, 2014, with a Gala Opening event on Wednesday evening April 9th. You'll find them at the Park Avenue Armory, 643 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10065. Opens daily at 11:00am, continues through Sunday.

The Association of International Photography Art Dealers [AIPAD] was organized in 1979. With members in the United States, Australia, Canada, Europe and Japan, the Association has become a unifying force in the field of photography. AIPAD is dedicated to creating and maintaining high standards in the business of exhibiting, buying and selling photographs as art.

The AIPAD Photography Show - New York

AIPAD Photography Show opens this week in New York. More than 75 of the world's leading fine art photography galleries will present a wide range of museum quality work by contemporary, modern and 19th century masters at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City. The 28th edition of The AIPAD Photography Show New York will open with a Gala Preview on April 9 to benefit the John Szarkowski Fund, an endowment for photography acquisitions at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The AIPAD Photography Show New York is the longest running and foremost exhibition of fine art photography.

Gala Benefit Preview
The AIPAD Photography Show New York will present a Gala Benefit Preview on Wednesday, April 9, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The evening will benefit the John Szarkowski Fund, an endowment for photography acquisitions at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The fund was established to honor John Szarkowski, one of the most influential curators in photography and a photographer in his own right. Ticket information is as follows:

FotoFest 2008

FotoFest 2008, officially opens tonight with a gala party. Addmission is free, with music starting at nine. If you're in Houston and interested in art or photography don't miss this event. Location is 1113 Vine Street in Houston and the opening will be from 8pm to midnight.

After its opening on Friday night, FOTOFEST2008 continues with the opening reception for Current Perspectives, 1998–2008 CHINA with the new work of artists XING Danwen and ZENG Han at Bering & James.The Current Perspectives series features the work of 10 multi-disciplinary Chinese artists addressing issues of identity, memory, spirituality, gender, urbanism, and the complex relationships between the present and the past in contemporary China.

Designed as a series of one-person exhibitions, the exhibition at Bering & James feature two young artists dealing with contemporary life in the new urban and affluent China. The exhibition opens March 8, 2008, 6-9pm and continues through April 20, 2008

AIPAD Photography Show Miami - 2007

The AIPAD Photography Show Miami, December 5th - 9th, 2007. This fair presented more than 40 top photography dealers from around the world. All of the dealers are members of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers and this was AIPAD's first Miami fair. The exhibtion focused on fine art photography from both contemporary and modern masters.

Some of my favorite artworks were the new works of Joel-Peter Witkin on display at Etherton Gallery. The large Jerry Uelsmann images displayed at Andrew Smith Gallery were impressive. Also, Edward Burtynsky's large scale color photographs from his Quarries book were spectacular. Scott Nichols Gallery from San Francisco, had really good selection of Ruth Bernhard and Imogen Cunningham prints.

AIPAD's next fair will be, The Photography Show New York 2008, April 10th - 13th, in New York city. If you're interested in collecting fine art photography you try to vist AIPAD's art fairs. Hopefully, they will return to Miami for the 2008 art fairs next December.
